Here are the three differences you need to know before your next Dulevo replacement brush order.
Main Brush — It’s a Lift, Not a Scrape
The main brush (also called tube broom or central brush) sits under the center of your sweeper. Its job: lift debris off the pavement and feed it onto the conveyor or into the hopper.
For Dulevo 3000, the central brush diameter is 520mm — sweeping a 1300mm path. On the 5000 and 6000, it’s 650mm in diameter. Same sweeping width, bigger roll.
Each unit runs around 45kg. PP bristles are standard, but we also supply steel wire and poly/steel hybrids for heavier debris.
Here’s what most people get wrong: a main brush wears evenly across its full diameter when the machine is properly set. If you’re seeing center-only wear or edge-only wear, that’s a machine adjustment issue — not a brush defect.
Check the wear pattern first. Replace the brush second.

Side Brush — Takes the Real Punishment
Side Brushes (gutter brooms) sit on the left and right of the machine. They extend the sweeping width from 1300mm to 2100mm (Dulevo 3000) or 2600mm (Dulevo 5000/6000).
They’re lighter — about 25kg per unit. But they take more abuse. Curbs, gutters, tight corners. That’s where the real wear happens.
Dulevo 3000 uses 875mm diameter gutter brooms. The 5000 and 6000 use 1100mm.
These are wafer-style brushes — stacked discs of polypropylene or steel wire. And because the outer edge constantly grinds against pavement and curbs, your sweeping width can shrink 15-20% before you even notice.
Most operators replace side brushes twice as often as main brushes. That’s normal. What’s not normal is buying cheap replacements that lose 15-20% of bristles in the first 10 hours.

Material Selection — One Size Does Not Fit Both
Here’s where most buyers slip. They order the same material for both brushes.
Main brush — match the debris type:
PP (polypropylene): General street sweeping, light to medium debris
Steel wire: Compacted mud, asphalt milling debris, construction sites
PP/wire mix: Heavy debris with fine dust — the wire breaks it up, the PP sweeps it clean
Side brush — match the curb condition:
PP: Smooth pavement, light residential routes
Steel wire: Rough asphalt, gutters with compacted sediment
Union Fibre: Static-sensitive environments, fine dust collection
